My two favorite movies both star Ryan Gosling and have contradictory titles. I am amused by this.
Urban Outfitters new line of shirts.
People who know me well know that I hate this store for a variety of reasons. Let’s make a list, shall we?
If only one of these issues had come to light, maybe you could look the other way on it. But this is just par for the course with them now. Please don’t give such hateful asshats your money.

I’m not exactly PETA’s biggest fan (they once tried to make the town of Fishkill change their name… because PETA doesn’t know Latin or how to use google), but every once in a while, they bring attention to something that matters.
There should be government regulation on these issues. Short of that happening, you can at least make an effort not to support these actions with your wallet.
Yes, the title is a rebecca black reference, and if you didn’t get it then I’m really happy for you.
So I just found out last week that there is an optional component to the training period for my job. It’s just job training… you know… no biggee…
Except it takes place here:

So yeah. That should be fun.

Sorry for the Hiatus, my little tumblrites. I’ve been in Illinois shopping for apartments, and well… I’m pretty sure I found an alright one. Here’s what we’re looking at.
Location, as dictated from space:

You can probably see the ISU quad in that picture. So yeah, it’s right on their campus. In a building no doubt crawling with college students. Let’s break down the pros and cons of that.
Pros:
Cons:
I’ve kind of been back and forth on this, but the lease I’m getting ready to sign only goes through May of 2013. So that’s like 8 months. That seems like a good amount of time to spend near that campus to meet new people and and try to enjoy my settling in to a new city. And if it sucks, or even if I just feel like I’ve gotten all the benefits of meeting new friends that I’ve needed, then 8 months isn’t all that long, and I can re-evaluate next time around. Maybe find something more permanent next summer. I’ll have a lot of time to look around while working this year.
But moving on.
So time for floor plans, right? Yeah, ok.

That’s right, 1,850 sq ft. That is fucking huge. And despite some of those bedrooms looking a little small, they are ALL bigger than my current one, so it’s a pure upgrade. Plus, did the 4 walk in closets and 4 private bathrooms sink in? (Get it? Sink? Like in a bathroom? HILARIOUS!) Plus a balcony and in-unit laundry. Seems pretty good.
So what’s the price for this, you ask. Surely on my starting salary I can’t afford nice things. WRONG. Totally in the price range I was looking for. And utilities are included in the rent for an apartment with central air. Those hot days will be so much more bearable.
So what do you guys think? Anyone have advice? If it shapes your opinion at all, I looked at the realty website for it and it turns out that friend-zone-fiona has been living there.

Job offer, Job offer, hey hey, I’m gonna be employed.
I’m really tiring of the job search.
When I was in illinois, it was alright. It was a last hurrah! It was time to spend with my friends and the city I had learned to call home. Even if nothing was long term, I could make the best of it and enjoy it for what it was.
Now I’m in NY for an indeterminate amount of time, waiting on interviews and the next stage in my life to take me away. There’s no reason to really get involved in anything here, since I’m likely not to stay very long. It’s disheartening.
On the other hand, it is making me crave that next step so much more. I’ll be so happy when it arrives.
